MCP and Agent Access
Enterprise extensions provide MCP, Agent, and sandbox proxies. The gateway exposes access points; the corresponding services run the tools, Agents, and sandboxes. Availability depends on version, licensing, and deployed components.
Choose an MCP source
| Source | Method |
|---|---|
| Existing remote MCP server | Register its endpoint, connection type, and headers in the admin console |
| Platform-hosted MCP | Create and deploy an MCP repository, then follow the service's invocation instructions |
A remote service does not require importing its code. An MCP repository, a running server, and a gateway proxy are different objects. See MCP Overview and MCP Spaces.
Register a remote server
- Open Admin Console → AI Gateway → MCP Gateway.
- Enter the name, description, endpoint URL, and connection type.
- Configure headers required by the upstream and save.
- Verify connection and tool access using the relevant client and deployment-provided address.
See MCP Gateway Administration. Administrators maintain upstream credentials, while clients access services using the caller credentials provided by the deployment.
Proxy paths and boundaries
| Type | Path pattern | Verify before use |
|---|---|---|
| MCP | /v1/mcp/* | Registered service, transport, and client authentication |
| Agent | /v1/agent/:type/* | Actual Agent type, deployed service, and interface contract |
| Sandbox | /v1/sandboxes/:name/* | Actual sandbox name, state, and access permissions |
Replace path placeholders with registered service identifiers. Follow the corresponding MCP, Agent, or sandbox service’s instructions for addresses, request formats, and authentication.
Tool execution and auditing
Use tool-call records to trace execution and investigate errors. For operations requiring business approval, complete approval in the application or tool service and configure idempotency to prevent duplicate execution during retries.
Validate allowed tools, failure handling, body logging, and data requirements. See Identity and Access, Content Safety and Data Handling, and Monitoring and Troubleshooting.
