Instances, data and usage

Notebook, fine-tuning, inference and Space instances may continue to occupy resources after you close the browser or finish a training job.

Saving data

Pausing a Notebook, fine-tuning instance or Space preserves its instance data. Deleting it removes the instance and its data; export required files and outputs before deletion. Working directories depend on the image and mounts.

Separately exported copies in another repository or on your computer are different from instance data. See Space settings for the scope of repository deletion. Pausing is not a backup: open exported files to verify them before deletion, and do not infer retention for rebuilding or resizing from the pause behavior.

  • Fine-tuning: export the model, record the base version, checkpoint and output commit.
  • Notebook: download or upload notebooks, scripts and results, then reopen them to verify.
  • Spaces: commit source code; save runtime-generated data separately.
  • Inference: record the model version and runtime settings required to reproduce behavior.

View usage

EE meters resource usage without platform billing. Sites with billing enabled apply the configured prices and operating rules.

Check resource usage in the instance page. After stopping or pausing an instance, return to the instance list to confirm its status.
